Angela Catalog Covers
Steve
started his catalog in the late '70s. At that time it was more of
a xeroxed flier. Eventually as the catalog grew we switched to getting
it printed on newsprint at the Carroll County
Times. We couldn't find all of them, but here is what we did
find.....
1988 CATALOG COVER
Fender's
lawyers sent us a letter about this one. They found this
cover design to be "extremely offensive".
1989
CATALOG COVER
This issue had the
famous Trainwreck Pages by Ken Fischer. Ken supplied
the content, Steve helped with the writing and organization, Ken's mom
did the proofreading and Adam Apostolos did the drawings. If you want
to read The Trainwreck pages go to the How To Section of this website.

1991 CATALOG COVER
This catalog had
"The Miracle on Allergy" a pamphlet we found in a
music store in South Carolina. If you want to read it we have scanned
it and it is in this Archive section. As you can see we
proclaimed that this was our last Parts Edition. Steve was sick
of doing parts plus every year good old parts were getting harder to
find. He had also decided to go into vintage Hi-Fi although Corey
Greenberg had warned us that we would not get along with audiophiles.

1992 CATALOG COVER
Remember when the
Cold War was suddenly over and it was the end of
History and we were just going to have Peace all the time? That
unfounded optimism inspired this cover design. We had the F word
spelled out in our orignal design but the printers refused to go with
that one. A few of our customers didn't recognize Lenin and
thought that was a picture of Steve.

1993 CATALOG COVER
We
were really in to Tubes at this point. Yes, the cover is a bit
suggestive!

1994 CATALOG COVER
Before
Photoshop! I guess it looks a bit crude now.

1995 CATALOG COVER
"Family
Values" was a big buzzword for the politicians of the
time.

1996 CATALOG COVER
This
was our last printed catalog. Charles Bennington of WGNS
Studios is a computer expert in addition to being a musician and studio
guy. He offered to bring Angela Instruments into the modern age
by creating an Online Catalog on the WWW. As our catalog had grown it
had become more and more of a huge task to get it done each year and we
were ready for his good idea. Charles created our website and
also taught us, two computer illiterates, how to operate it. When
we announced we were ending the printed catalog we had many unhappy
customers. One caller informed us that going on the internet was
a fatal mistake, that not that many people had computers and that he
would guarantee we would go out of business. Since this was about
the three hundredth time someone had told us about how we are going to
go out of business we weren't worried.
